Introducing Mirroring Techniques
Mirroring in is a technique our Stockton coaches use to help members feel heard and understood. Mirroring involves reflecting back the client's words, tone, and body language in a non-judgmental and supportive way. This can help the client feel validated, seen, and heard.
When a coach mirrors a client, they may use phrases such as "It sounds like you're feeling...", "I hear that you're saying...", or "What I'm hearing is...". This allows the therapist to demonstrate that they are actively listening and attempting to understand the client's experience.
Mirroring can also be used to help clients gain insight into their own thoughts and feelings. By hearing their own words reflected back to them, clients may be able to gain a new perspective or understand their own experience more deeply.
Overall, mirroring is a technique that can help build rapport between coach and client and improve the relationship. It can also help members feel more comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings and may lead to greater insights and progress in therapy.
